Studio Artdink and ININ Games are back with another Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World trailer. In the game’s initial reveal, the graphics and animation looked kind of rough, but the trailer that followed was a little more promising. Perhaps the game has just worn me down over time, but I think the game looks… decent now, visually? You can judge for yourself with the new trailer below.
Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World is coming to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Q2 2021, which means we should see it within the next couple months. It is a remake of 1994’s Monster World IV on Sega Mega Drive being developed by the original game’s creator, Ryuichi Nishizawa, along with several original development staff. The game is additionally receiving a physical release from Strictly Limited Games, including a spectacular Mega Collector’s Edition version retailing for $215. Any physical version of the game bought will come with the original Monster World IV on the cart; digital downloads will not include it.
What do you think of the new Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World trailer? It’s certainly a different style of visuals than the refreshed pixel art of Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX, which is another retro remake that began life on a Sega platform.
