World 1-1

Nintendo Enthusiast has brought you word of players’ custom islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons before. But what about something instantly recognizable? Something even non-gamer folk would recognize from their youth? A Japanese player decided to address these questions by reimagining the most famous level in video game history for their isle: World 1-1 from Super Mario Bros.

I know the entire layout of World 1-1 from memory

Twitter user @1989daichi1226 showed off their creation with a short video clip:

Wow, the nostalgia just came flooding back. Especially the unpleasant knowledge I have died to that first Goomba more than once. I know it’s happened to every gamer out there, don’t lie!

Sure, the tribute is a little truncated, but it’s still impressive. Both the enemy and block placements are on point, Mario has idle, climbing, and death poses, and the castle at the end has a victory flag. The only things missing are the fireworks in the sky and the location of the hidden 1-up block. Toss some newcomers a bone!

Enthusiasts, what are your thoughts on this faithful adaptation of World 1-1? Tell us the best homages you have seen in New Horizons using the comment field down below.
