A new Xenoblade Chronicles comparison video has emerged online, showing a comparison of each version’s graphics. The game was originally released for the Wii, then Nintendo ported it to the 3DS. And now, later this year, it will finally come to Switch.
Xenoblade Chronicles comparison
When it launched for the Wii, Xenoblade Chronicles felt like the best new JRPG on the platform. You could sink hundreds of hours into it, and the story and universe were so unique that they felt like a special world to escape to.
The 3DS version of the game did a phenomenal job of bringing this colossal game to the handheld audience. As you can see in the video above, the graphics weren’t quite as pretty as the Wii version. However, the fact that you could play the game on the go more than made up for that visual downgrade.
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition on Switch takes inspiration from the cel-shaded graphics of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. In this way, the games seem more alike, and they feel as though they’re part of the same series. Shulk has never looked better, and we can’t wait to see more of him in action when we get our hands on the game.
The Switch version of the game will also pack in a brand new epilogue story, dubbed “Future Connected”. This final adventure for Shulk sounds like a labor of love from the developers, who might have felt that some loose ends needed tying up. We’re excited to see where this new chapter of the game takes you, and whether or not it manages to tie into the start of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 at all.
