For fans who already finished the game on Wii or New Nintendo 3DS, the most exciting part of Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch is its new epilogue, Future Connected. We already knew that the epilogue would be accessible straight from the start menu, but per a tweet from Nintendo of Europe, it’s now also been confirmed that this new episode occurs one year after the conclusion of the main game.
Set one year after the main story, Future Connected is a new epilogue chapter included in #XenobladeChronicles: Definitive Edition. It’s available right from the start and can be experienced at any time! pic.twitter.com/5OkSUQmwdO

Without spoiling anything, it’s fair to say that the end of Xenoblade Chronicles is pretty dramatic and sees some seismic shifts in the status quo. Basically, Future Connected could be about anything, without almost any restrictions. It could be a breezy exploration of all the characters’ lives in a peaceful world, which I would be perfectly happy with, but it could also go the Final Fantasy IV: The After Years route of contriving a brand new threat out of nowhere just to give the heroes something dramatic to fight. Time will tell what Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition and Future Connected have in store.
In related news, Monolith Soft recently divulged that it had assisted in the development of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the latest in a history of major Nintendo releases that the company has quietly supported.
