Yet another Animal Crossing: New Horizons item duplication method found

Somehow another Animal Crossing: New Horizons duplication method has been uncovered. Just last week we reported on a new item duplication glitch that involved item placement, and now we have a second one that utilizes additional characters. While the last glitch could only work on items of a certain size, this one is more useful, or damaging depending on how you look at it, because it can duplicate anything.

You can see a detailed breakdown of the exact method in the video above, but the gist of it is that it tricks the in-game mailbox system. First, you need to have a second and third character to play as and have two controllers so that you can switch between residents. Then, you mail the items you want to duplicate to that second character, switch to them, pick up and drop the items, then switch back to your main character, swap to the third character, and then end the session. By doing this quickly, it looks like you can duplicate any item in the game, resulting in the Easter Island situation in the video’s thumbnail.

Duplicating items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons can be useful, but some players still consider these glitches shady. Using this Animal Crossing: New Horizons item duplication method, you could fill your inventory with the hot item of the day and make a fortune by selling it at Nook’s Cranny.

This glitch will almost certainly be patched quickly, but in the interim, exploit this glitch responsibly, if at all.

Started out playing Metroid 2 on the GameBoy at around 5 years-old, and now I write about games all day long. Can't play Switch and drive, I've tried. As time goes on the Switch is quickly becoming my favourite console of all time.
