If you’re an avid shiny Pokémon hunter, you’ll soon be able to add a few more creatures to your collection. In the coming months, shiny versions of the Galarian Bird Trio (Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres) are being offered as reward for participating in the upcoming International Challenges. These creatures are shiny locked in-game, meaning you can’t encounter their shiny forms without a special event, and as such, these online competitions are currently the only way to receive these. Therefore, you won’t want to miss your chance!
First on the docket is the Galarian Articuno, which is the reward for February’s event. Registration runs from February 3rd-17th, with the actual competition taking place from February 18th-20th. Following in March is Galarian Zapdos, and to get it, you’ll need to register for the event between February 24th and March 10th. The actual competition will run from March 11th-13th. Lastly is Galarian Moltres, for which you’ll need to compete in April’s event from April 15th-17th. Registration for April’s event runs from March 31st through April 14th.
If you’re unfamiliar with how to register for events like this, just follow these steps during the registration period:
- Head to the main menu in Pokémon Sword or Shield by pressing the X button.
- Select the VS option, then choose Battle Stadium.
- Connect to the internet.
- Once online, select “Online Competitions.”
- Select “Search for Online Competitions.”
- Select the relevant competition.
- Follow any on-screen instructions.
If you’ve followed those steps, you’re halfway there! All that’s left is to complete at least one match during each event window. Remember that both of these steps are equally important. Registration without competition will not count, and you won’t be able to compete without registering! I highly suggest setting a reminder for each step in the process so you don’t forget, since it’s easy to register at the beginning then forget to actually follow through. Given this rare opportunity to grab the shiny Galarian Bird Trio, that’s the last thing you want to do!
