Developer Falcom and publisher NIS America have announced a July 6, 2021 release date for action RPG Ys IX: Monstrum Nox on Nintendo Switch and PC in North America, July 9 for Europe. This follows from the game’s release on PlayStation 4 this past February. In this entry in the long-running series, Adol “the Red” Christin travels to Balduq in the Romun Empire, where he is transformed into a “Monstrum” by a woman named Aprilis. Becoming a Monstrum gives Adol supernatural abilities and “the power to exorcise demons,” so he teams up with other Monstrums to ward off the threat of a “shadowy dimension called the Grimwald Nox” and learn the truth of the Monstrum curse.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will allow you to play as six Monstrums with their own unique abilities, like scaling walls or detecting hidden objects, as they complete various quests for the people of Balduq. Flash Dodge and Flash Guard mechanics make a return, while a new Boost Mode enhances your fighting abilities. And although the Switch and PC release date is still a little bit away, on PlayStation 4, the game received a definitively positive reception. So if you’ve ever enjoyed previous Ys games, there’s no reason to think that will stop now.
Will you be playing Ys IX: Monstrum Nox on Switch or PC come its release date in July?
